Brandon Grotesque Font Family
The sans serif Brandon Grotesque Font Family comes in six weights and matching italics. Hannes von Döhren designed it in 2009–2010. The fonts are based on geometric shapes that have been optically adjusted for improved legibility, drawing inspiration from the geometric-style sans serif faces that were fashionable in the 1920s and 1930s.
Warm touches and a functional aesthetic characterize Brandon Grotesque. Longer texts work best with the light, normal, and medium weights; the thin and black weights operate best in display sizes. It has a certain charm that comes from the tiny x-height and the simple lines. Brandon Grotesque is capable of handling intricate, formal type. The OpenType fonts have an extended character set to support Central and Eastern European as well as Western European languages. Brandon Grotesque won the TDC2 Award, 2011.
